Flexible Ways to Give
You can give in tax efficient ways.
Give from a Donor Advised Fund
A donor advised fund (DAF) is a charitable giving program that allows you to combine the most favorable tax benefits with the flexibility to support your favorite causes. Through your DAF, you can make tax-deductible donations with no processing fees as is typically found with credit card gifts.
To give from your Donor Advised Fund, you must first log into your fund website. Use these links or the box here to get started. If you have any questions, please contact us at kayla.pearson@slmpregnancy.org or 703-278-5433.
Donate Stock
One benefit you receive from donating appreciated stock is that you can give more money to the ministry. If you sold the stock and then donated the cash, you would first have to pay 20% of the cash in capital gains tax. Another reason is to reduce future capital gains taxes.
If you are interested in donating stock, please email kayla.pearson@slmpregnancy.org or call 703-278-5433 to learn more.
Give from your IRA
People who are age 70 ½ or older can contribute up to $100,000 from their IRA directly to a charity and avoid paying income taxes on the distribution. These transfers, known as qualified charitable distributions or QCDs, offer eligible older Americans a great way to easily give before the end of the year.
Moreover, for those who are at least 72, QCDs count toward the IRA owner's required minimum distribution (RMD) for the year. QCDs can be made electronically, directly to the charity, or by check payable to the charity. Contact your IRA representative to get the ball rolling. If you have questions, please email finance@slmpregnancy.org or call us on 703-278-5433.
